Christian, an Athens-Clarke County senior police officer, was tragically shot and killed on March 22, 2011 while responding to a carjacking call in Athens. Deeply saddened by the loss of Officer Christian, Heyward Allen Motor Company, an Athens Buick, Cadillac, and GMC dealer, has pledged to donate $1 for every positive comment left on Heyward Allen's Facebook page. All funds will be deposited into the Buddy Christian Memorial Fund, a trust benefiting Christian's wife and children. Heyward Allen Motor Company encourages Athens residents to help reach its goal of donating $10,000 to the fund.
