Japan nuclear incident continues to cause concern

PRLog (Press Release)– Mar 18, 2011– Tokyo Electric Power Company (TepCO), the owner of the Fukushima Daiichi Plant, say ferrari s it has connected an external power line to its incapacitated plant and would first supply reactor 2 because it is less damaged.  Power is required to operate the plant's essential cooling systems, which were damaged in last Friday's earthquake and tsunami.

Tepco stated that "We would like to make our deep apologies for concern and nuisance about the incident of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and the leakage of radioactive substances to the people living in the surrounding area of the power station".

Concern is mounting around Japan as the authorities upgrade the severity of the nuclear incident to the same level as the Three Mile Island Accident in the USA.  Paul bmw Morris a resident of Bobata, 40km from the Fukushima plant said "No-one goes outside any more, the roads are so quiet, you know and I only keep in touch with my family and friends, you know, so we don't know the extent of the exclusion zone. A lot of people's left okay but it's so scary, you don't know w audi hat to do you know, it's terrible."

A Swedish nuclear reactor inspector Klas Idehaag said that he expects harmless traces of radioactivity from the damaged reactors at Fukushima to reach Sweden within a week.  Swedish nuclear expert Klas Idehaag commented "We expect that maybe in seven days from now we could detect some atoms, with very, very exact instruments here in Sweden... But it will be no effect on the environment or for people," according to Reuters.

Shinji Noma from Hiroshima, said "Hiroshima is not directly damaged by this disaster, but people there are afraid of the present situation. The majority of peace activists here have seemed reluctant to be against nuclear power plants so far, though they've appealed [for] the abolition of nuclear weapons. Such situation might change. Anyway, I strongly hope radioactive contaminations won't spread any more."

The ongoing nuclear incident has inevitably distracted the government and media, and further severed supply lines from the suffering of hundreds of thousands of residents of tsunami devastated North-Eastern Japan.  Minamisoma Mayor Katsunobu Sakurai said: "I was worried we were going to be left to die. I couldn't let that happen. So when the mayor of Niigata prefecture (on the west coast of Japan) contacted me, we arranged to have some of the people of Minamisoma who wanted to leave, to be evacuated there. alfa romeo This was our own initiative, local government to local government, rather than via the central government."

"Until recently, food supplies were a problem because many people were scared of the radiation and refused to come and deliver supplies into the exclusion zone. Japanese people are very frightened of radiation, and I think this partly explains why help was slow to arrive" Minamisoma Mayor Katsunobu Sakurai continued.

A resident of Minamisoma-shi  added "My father is a staff of municipal office of Minamisoma-shi and expects retirement this month. Despite the fact he is health-freak, he refuses to leave, stays in the office, battling this crisis and risks his health. I respect my father as a man of responsibility. Please let him come back home safely."
